WPC UK Young Professionals Committee

In 2013, young professionals and students from across sectors of the UK energy industry came together with a mission to connect, develop and grow the future generation of industry leaders, culminating in the formation of the WPC UK Youth Committee. We enter the 2017-2020 WPC Cycle with a refueled vision to build the next generation of the UK Young Professionals (YP) network in anticipation of the 23rd World Petroleum Congress. The WPC UK Young Professionals provide a forum for knowledge sharing and peer-to-peer networking with local, regional and global emerging leaders. Members engage with each other virtually and across the WPC YP Connect community. UK YPs have the opportunity to develop new initiatives and regional collaborations, and are invited to participate in WPC YP programmes worldwide.

About the WPC Global Young Professionals Committee

The WPC Global Youth Committee was established in 2006 in response to the “serious shortage of young talented employees to replace the ranks of experienced professionals about to leave the industry”, as commented by Dr. Randall Gossen, former President of the WPC. The committee is intended to promote a realistic, diverse and inclusive voice of the petroleum industry. Today, the Young Professionals Committee encourages all member countries to actively promote and involve the next generation in their activities and leadership by forming their own national Young Professionals Committee.

Vision Statement:
Shaping the global energy future by bringing together the passion and talents of industry students, young professionals and emerging leaders:

We seek collaborative and innovative solutions to key technical, social, environmental and management energy challenges for future generations, guided by our values and commitments to: leadership, diversity, participation, sustainability, transparency, and excellence.
